Motivado, fuerte, inteligente y oportunista como nunca, Rossi llegaba a Assen con una única triple premisa: ganar, ganar y ganar, y hasta que no cumplió sus tres objetivos no consintió en que acabara la carrera. Assen es un circuito que por sus características, por sus inexistentes brusquedades en su trazado, no permite marcar diferencias sobre neumáticos fríos (como Lorenzo y Márquez hacen) y desde el primer entreno puso las cartas boca arriba marcando su territorio en Holanda. Tras una poderosa pole en una única vuelta de ataque, Rossi se dedicó a medrar a Márquez, acusándole públicamente de ser excesivamente agresivo en las primeras vueltas con el añejo y olvidado sabor del ácido sarcasmo que Rossi solía utilizar contra sus rivales. Después, todos vimos la carrera. Rossi, con la peor mosca cojonera posible pegado en toda la carrera llegó a la chicane “vendido” ante el potencial ataque de Marc Márquez. Y ese momento, justo en ese momento, Rossi se convirtió en un delantero de fútbol italiano listo que al sentir contacto de un defensa da siete volteretas mientras coge el balón con las manos. Y orgulloso de ello, reconoce haber acelerado a fondo en ese punto y momento. Márquez le habilitó para ello y Rossi supo leerlo en milésimas de segundo.
Sí, este es el mejor Rossi de la historia, es el más cabrón, el más listo y experimentado de todos los que hay en pista, lo que le hace favorito en los circuitos que sus rivales no aciertan a exprimir… y que no son tantos.
